The Tamil Nadu Forest Department is currently monitoring the movements of a tiger that was sighted near a popular tourist area, less than 10 km from Udhagamandalam town on Thursday morning, June 20, 2024. Videos taken with a mobile phone captured the animal's attempt to cross the road, but it doubled back when disturbed by people. As a precautionary measure following the sighting, the tourism area has been closed to tourists.
